The proposed scheme replaces existing facilities on the west bank of the River Esk in Whitby, North Yorkshire.
The building completed by SALT architects offers toilet and sanitary facilities as well as refuse and waste oil disposal facilities for marina users as well as public toilets which will complement the other facilities in the area.
The site is prominent within Whitby and a key ambition of the project was to create a building which offers a significant contribution to the rich patchwork that gives Whitby its unique urban character.
Responsive to scale, craftsmanship and materials within the local area this contemporary building creates a continuum for development in the town.
Facilities: The building provides public toilets, toilets, showers, laundry and reception facilities for boat users and refuse storage. An existing substation on the site is incorporated within the new facility.
