SALT worked closely with the RSPB on this project to design an extensive extension and refurbishment to the existing Seabird Centre at Bempton Cliffs in East Yorkshire.
The building has been designed to improve and enhance Bemptons visitor offer, providing as wide a range of people as possible with the opportunity of experiencing the UKs largest and most accessible, mainland seabird colony.
The scheme includes a completely refurbished and extended reception building, creating a sheltered space for education, community group and family activities as well as office space for RSPB staff and volunteers.
SALT were also involved in providing more accessible footpaths, with new signs and trail boards; and redesigning the car park to create additional parking spaces and safe bicycle storage.
The development of Bempton Cliffs visitor experience, started at the beginning of September 2014 and completed in March 2015, was been able to take place thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Coastal Communities Fund and over funding from the RSPB.
